CEC Band & Choir

Music plays a vital role in learning and Canadian culture in general. A balanced education in our public school system must include access to a high quality, core curriculum music program. According to the great philosopher Plato (428 BC-348 BC), "I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy: but most importantly music, for in the patterns of music and all the arts are the keys of learning." The music program at the Cobequid Educational Centre in Truro ranks as one of the best in the country. Under the directorship of the late Ron MacKay, past director Paul Barrett and current director Jeff Graham, the CEC Band & Choir program has won a number of prestigious awards and medals in national and international competition. Music in our schools. Share the passion!

Our Contribution

CEC Band & Choir

Roadside Willies Smokehouse & Bar is proud to support the CEC Band & Choir program. Many program participants and alumni have shared their incredible talent at Sunday Night Jazz and other functions hosted by Roadside Willies. Jeff Goodspeed, Dave Burton, Ken MacKay, Dawn Hatfield, Andrew Boudreau, Keith Doiron, Scott Tiller, the list goes on and on. Retired CEC music director Paul Barrett has been the driving force behind many of the terrific live performances that have taken place at Roadside Willies. Every year we will contribute 500 gift cards with a face value of $5, redeemable any time at Roadside Willies. These special gift cards will be sold through a network of supporters and 100% of sales will go to the CEC Band & Choir program to help finance special projects. It's a win-win partnership for everyone involved.
